Where will your pharmacy degree take you?
The Alternative Pharmacy Careers (APC) Conference is a new initiative designed by a team of undergraduate students from the School of Pharmacy at the University of East Anglia (UEA). Conference founder Aditya Aggarwal, had previously realised that although the MPharm degree provides excellent teaching and support to enter careers in community, hospital and industrial pharmacy, there is a general lack of information available to students regarding the range of career paths pharmacists can take both within and beyond these sectors. After recruiting a team of students to the committee, and with the support of dedicated UEA lecturers, the APC Conference was born.
A pharmacy degree is highly sought after by a vast array of employers which can open the door to a number of different careers paths that you may never have considered you could go into.As many of us are aware, community and hospital pharmacy are the two most well-known routes into a successful pharmacy career. Whilst community and hospital pharmacy are both highly respected career paths and provide pharmacists with excellent clinical experience which is often paramount for any alternative career you may wish to enter, the aim of the APC conference is to explore the plethora of other opportunities available to modern pharmacists after registration.
